Moving into its 11th year, the uniquely placed MMIGLOBAL pageant will be taking its popular personal development programme called "Better Me" nationwide. Begining in Kuantan, the workshops promise to entertain and challenge young minds bogged by social, cultural and financial perspectives.Open to all Malaysian women under 35 years, the workshops, to be held in Penang, Kuantan and Kuala Lumpur, they will tackle issues such as Romance (to know exactly what we mean, you need to be there!) Favela Rising is a gripping and gritty documentary about life in the slums of Rio de Janeiro, the 'favelas'. The film focuses on the work of Anderson Sá, a former drug trafficker who establishes the grassroots movement Afro Reggae; which aims to use music and education to better the lives of youth and prevent further growth of gangs. Favela Rising won over 25 international festival awards and was short-listed for an Oscar.
